Morning, dear journal!

A great lot of energy this morning, but absent-minded...rode to the beach to take piccies, but I'd forgotten to take the camera with me... Oh well, it was nice to see the sunrise by the beach, anyhow.... it came up pretty late, right at about 7am. (I was thinking it was going to pop up about a half hour earlier.) I've decided that we need more windmills here... I think it'd be a nice addition to the solar panels on the tops of any beachfront buildings, and it could help power them, too...but not the cheesy new-style room-fan type...but the cool, old, versions, either the farm kind or my real preference, the groovy Holland 4-fin.

Looks like there's going to be rain this weekend... I hope it doesn't hurt the art fair.

President Bush's lawyers have concluded that he can attack Iraq without congressional approval because the approval given to his father in 1991 is still in effect. This decision raises another, much more frightening possibility: If anything should happen to Bush Sr., W. would find himself married to his own mother. Neither Barbara nor Laura Bush could be reached for comment. Suddenly Bush's urgent desire to repeal the estate tax makes a lot more sense. After all, who wants to have to mail 37% of their mom to the government?

Here's some pretentiousness... Lie to your wedding guests-
The fancier the cake, the more you'll pay. The average is $3 a slice. Don’t get a cake that serves everyone - buy a smaller version of the cake you love but can’t afford. After the photos, have it rolled into the kitchen "to be sliced." Your guests don’t have to know that they're getting sheet cake that costs about 50 cents a slice.

And some non-pretentiousness-
Willy Wonka: (sings with a dark and foreboding tone) "There's no earthly way of knowing which direction we are going. There's no knowing where we're rowing or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hur-ra-cane-a blowing? Not a speck of light is showing. So the danger must be growing. Are the fires of hell a-glowing? Is the grisly reaper mowing?! YES! THE DANGER MUST BE GROWING! FOR THE ROWERS KEEP ON ROWING! AND THEY'RE CERTAINLY NOT SHOWING! ANY SIGNS THAT THEY ARE SLOWING!!!"
